Can someone who has either had a baby or knows a lot about it please explain to me why my feet are so fat? They never even looked like this when I was pregnant!

Is it edema (swelling) we are talking about or are your feet a little bigger (size-wise)? I've heard numerous times that after having a baby many people change shoe sizes.
If it's edema: Here's a relevant excerpt:
Edema is also very common after a pitocin-induced labor or after an epidural, where excess fluids are pumped into the mother in order to compensate for a possible fall of blood pressure. Post-partum edema mostly must be tolerated until it departs naturally within a few weeks.
Several other sites say: "Anticipate resolution [of edema] within 1 week of birth"
Basically, I get the impression that it's not a big deal and will go away. I think the only concern is if your blood pressure is abnormal and high/higher suddenly (this is discussed in cases of postpartum preeclamsia/eclampsia). I also read a couple places that edema in your face or hands should immediately be reported to a physician. The same goes for visual disturbances or a lasting, gradually worsening headache.

Thanks for the info-it actually went away after a day or so, and now I can actually fit into my shoes!
