It had to happen sometime, right?

I found this cute little walker at Ft. Riley's semi-annual garage sale for $10. It was basically brand new, and quite cute. I finally dragged it out last week to see if Paisley was big enough to use it, and hurrah, she was. She even seemed to like it, to the point where when I first sat her in it, her eyes got really big and her head swiveled back and forth for about 30 minutes. Yesterday I had her in it while I sat at the kitchen table trying to figure out our taxes, and I left the room for just a second, I swear, and as soon as I left I heard a loud thump, then a scream. Running as fast as I could I got back to the walker, and was really surprised to see that the baby was no longer sitting in it. Honestly in that split second, my brain was trying to comprehend how in the hell she could have gotten out. She's not even 5 months, she couldn't have climbed out. Then I realized that someone (I take full responsibility for this) didn't have the seat properly attached and it fell through, taking the babe with it, landing her on the floor underneath the walker. She screamed for a minute, but she seemed more scared than hurt, and calmed down after a minute. I hear people talk about their kids falling off beds, etc. and I always say to myself, "I would NEVER let that happen to MY kid..." but in actuality I knew something would happen sometime.

This is how she looked after the incident, although
this crying fit was from a different time. It used
to freak us out when she cried, but now she
does it enough that we're used to it. The middle
picture it hard to see, but her eyes are wet with tears.
I wanted pictures of it though, because she's pretty
cute when she's pouty.

A trip to KC

Charles and I took the babe to KC this weekend
to see her Papa and cousins. Papa wanted
to get pictures of the 2 babies together, so here
are Paisley and Emmett, not quite sure of
what they are being forced to do.

It went okay until Emmett started pulling on
Paisley's pigtails. Just a precursor of things
to come, I'm sure.

Stand Off. Paisley thought Emmett was
fascinating.

India is really cute with Paisley, although she
told me many times over the course of the day,
"I wouldn't have gotten her ears pierced if I
were you. I would never do that to my baby.
She must be really brave."

More contest possibilities?

I love numbers 1 & 3. They are very possibly
in the running to be entered into the contest.

Adventures In Eating

My hands are visible in these because I have
to hold her arms down with one hand and
shovel food in her mouth with the other. If I
don't block her hands, they immediately go to
her mouth-hence the cereal in her hair.

I'm particularly fond of this one. She's quickly
learning how to put fingers in both her mouth
and her nose.

She got bored while watching Regis and Kelly

She always sleeps with her arms above her head
like this. I'm not sure how she does it, if I sleep
like that my arms fall asleep. We've never been
able to wrap her arms up with the rest of her, from
day one she'd scream and fight to get them out
of her blankets.

Picture me doing the happy dance

Paisley slept for 9 hours straight last night!!!! Although that still entailed me getting up at 6 am, I feel sooooo much better to have gotten about 6 hours of straight, uninterupted sleep. Mama was starting to get a little wacky after 2 weeks of getting up EVERY 2 HOURS.

The babe and I went to Wichita Thursday and Friday for work. For anyone who has not driven through the middle of Kansas, there is NOTHING there. Those 2.5 hours took forever. All went well though, and I was able to finally email myself some pics from my phone, as where we live now doesn't get the service to be able to do that. They're blurry, but they are phone pix.
On a walk.
Luvin' her piggy.
Wow. I do NOT miss this.

I hope she gets arrested

...and that this ruins her career more than she already has. She (Britney Spears) claimed that she was "extremely frightened" of the paparrazzi (or is it pavarotti?), but she doesn't look scared to me.

Earrings and cereal

Today we took the babe into town and got her
ears pierced. It's been months of internal
debate for me as to whether or not we should
do it, and today I finally said to hell with it. I knew
that if I didn't, I'd be thinking about it all the time.
She did okay, cried for a minute, then was happy
again a few minutes later. Once again, I felt
horrible for purposely inflicting pain on my
child, but at least at this age she won't pull on
her ears and cause infections.

We also decided to try feeding her cereal. I
originally had wanted to wait another month
or so, but it's frustrating when she wants to nurse
every hour, so hopefully with cereal she can last
a little longer between feedings. She seemed to like
it okay, didn't spit it out. I tasted it, it wasn't too bad,
just a little bland.

Playing is hard work.

Curly

I tried to take some more pictures, this time with her hair big and curly, but the batteries are low in the camera so they all turned out blurry. Guess we'll just have to try again later, as we just hate taking pictures of the princess.

Random FYI: If you pour water into an answering machine, it doesn't work so well afterwards.
